Directed the Solutions Design Team (SDT) and led all pre-sales activities and projects within the Americas and Travel Distribution geographies.  Led and implemented standards, policies and procedures to properly rollout the solution and sales support activity.  Designed and provided innovative solutions to meet and exceed revenue, new business, profitability and customer retention targets.
  • Built and retained a diverse international team of 20+ managers and engineering professionals supporting over $400M of network business for the North and South American geographies.
  • Increase productivity by 21%, with each Business Solution Manager (BSM) supporting a pipeline of over $14M of active opportunities, while reducing operating costs inline with corporate objectives, maintaining the quality of business solutions and meeting new business, retention and revenue targets.
  • Successfully developed and bid new customer solutions, partnering with the product marketing and partner organizations to productize and bring to market, in time to meet customer requirements.  Examples include the offering of Layer 1-7 management solutions and customized hardware based IP-Sec solutions.

Directed the design, development and implementation of all network and access solutions for Concert’s global outsourcing customers.  Set strategic direction and ran multiple development programs to introduce new technology and services into the Concert Network.  Developed and maintained working relationships with AT&T, BT and Partners enabling the successful alignment of network and systems strategies, process and programs.  Lead commercial negotiations on behalf of Network development, integrating partner resources and converged designs onto a common network and systems architecture.

  • Successfully delivered strategic programs on time and in budget.  Supported exponential growth in both Frame Relay and ATM ports and expanded the reach of the IP MPLS VPN to 30+ counties.

Concert Management Services Inc., Atlanta GA

Section Manager, Network Development                                    1997-2000
Set strategic direction and successfully delivered new features and services for all of Concert’s Network platforms including ATM, Frame Relay, Voice, VoIP, X.25, Dial and Transmission.  Projects varied in timeframe from 1 month to 3 years with a total annual development budget in excesses of $100M per year.
  • Developed, built and grew a world class multi-national development organization of over 100 managers and engineering professionals.
  • Designed, implemented and launched Concert’s ATM service.
  • Enabled rapid scaling of the Frame Relay network to support exponential growth in customer demand, doubling the number of customer ports every 9 months.
  • Successfully converged the ATM and Frame Relay networks onto a common ATM backbone.
  • Upskilled classic voice engineering team to develop and support initial VoIP designs.
  • Developed network and systems support for SONET/SDH IRUs and private facilities, reducing unit cost of bandwidth on key Concert routes by an order of magnitude.

Developed, designed and delivered end-to-end solutions for the Concert’s Global Managed Platform and Managed Bandwidth Services including detailed technical designs, processes, procedures, planning rules and test specifications.
  • Successfully designed, developed and launched Managed Bandwidth and Integrated Access services.
  • Established formal requirements capture process with marketing and operations groups, reducing end-to-end development time by as much as 50%.
  • Introduced detailed capacity planning, growth and cost forecast methodology, optimizing network resources to reduced provisioning lead time by 20% while also reducing unutilized bandwidth by 50%.

Syncordia Corporation, Atlanta GA Manager Core Network Engineering                                          1992-1995
Managed and led all aspects of network engineering strategy to support telecommunications outsourcing opportunities.  Specified and implemented network growth strategies, synchronization plans, international route designs and network performance standards.
  • Built and staffed Syncordia’s Core Network Engineering.
  • Successfully designed and rolled out the Syncordia’s first Global Network.
  • Identified and acquired strategic network modeling tools, providing network saving in excess of $20M annually.  Specified development of design and performance modeling tools with European and Japanese development teams. 
  • Exercised final Technical sign off responsibility for all Syncordia outsourcing bids.  (Formally trained on N.E.T., Timeplex, Newbridge and Stratcom/Cisco WAN switches, associated software, design and modeling tools.)

Reviewed, identified and documented customer network applications and outsourcing requirements. Developed and validated solutions with international customers.  As a key member of the bid teams provided both detailed technical designs and bid text for outsourcing proposals for global information networks.  Produced and developed operational implementation and migration procedures and designs.
  • Recognized as the Design Authority on multi-million dollar a year global contracts from bid phase to implementation.

  • Specified and developed expert systems and planning tools for operational support of the network. 
  • Designed and successful implemented the network design for BT’s internal video conferencing network.
  • Wrote operational and maintenance software for BT system X exchanges using C, C++, UNIX, VMS.
